The status of women in society is neither a new issue nor is it a fully settled one. The position of Islam on this issue has been among the subjects presented to the Western reader with the least objectivity. This paper is intended to provide a brief and authentic exposition of what Islam stands for in this regard. The teachings of Islam are based essentially on the Quran (God’s revelation) and Hadith (elaboration by Prophet Muhammad). The Quran and the Hadith, properly and unbiasedly understood, provide the basic source of authentication for any position or view which is attributed to Islam. The paper starts with a brief survey of the status of women in the pre-Islamic era. It then focuses on these major questions: What is the position of Islam regarding the status of woman in society? How similar or different is that position from “the spirit of the time,” which was dominant when Islam was revealed? 꾸란과 초기 무슬림들 태도를 보면, 여성이 적어도 남성만큼 생명에 필요한 존재일 뿐 아니라 남성보다 열등하지 않다는 사실을 알 수 있습니다. 외래문화가 끼친 영향이 아니었다면 무슬림은 이런 질문조차 하지 않았을 것입니다. 왜냐하면, 여성과 남성 지위는 당연하게 동등하기 때문입니다. 이는 당연한 기정사실이었기에 아무도 문제 삼지를 않습니다. 이슬람은 다른 종교나 제도가 결코 허락하지 않았던 권리와 특권을 여성에게 부여했습니다. 문제를 부분적으로가 아닌, 비교 관점에서 전반적으로 조사하면 이러한 사실을 이해할 수 있습니다. 여성 권리와 책임은 남성과 평등하지만, 완전히 동일한 것은 아닙니다. 평등과 동일은 별개 것입니다. 남성과 여성은 동일하지 않지만 동등하게 창조되었기 때문에 이런 차이가 있습니다. 이런 차이를 염두에 두어야만 합니다. 완전히 똑 같은 남녀를 찾는다는 것은 불가능한 일 아닙니까?

Statutul femeii în societate nu este nici o problemă nouă și nici pe deplin soluționată. Poziția islamului în această problemă a fost printre subiectele prezentate cititorului occidental cu cea mai mică obiectivitate. Această lucrare are scopul de a oferi o expunere scurtă și autentică a ceea ce reprezintă Islamul în acest sens. Învățăturile islamului se bazează în esență pe Coran (revelația lui Dumnezeu) și pe Hadith (elaborare de către profetul Muhammad). Coranul și Hadith-urile, înțelese corect și imparțial, oferă sursa de bază de autentificare pentru orice poziție sau vedere care este atribuită islamului. Lucrarea începe cu un scurt studiu asupra statutului femeii în epoca preislamică. Apoi se concentrează asupra acestor întrebări majore: Care este poziția islamului în ceea ce privește statutul femeii în societate? Cât de similară sau de diferită este acea poziție față de „spiritul vremii”, care era dominantă atunci când islamul a fost revelat? La posición de la mujer en la sociedad ha sido a menudo objeto de mucho debate. La posición del islam con respecto al tema ha sido presentada al lector occidental con poca objetividad. Este documento tiene como objetivo proporcionar una explicación breve y precisa de la postura islámica, basándose en las fuentes auténticas del Corán (la revelación final de Dios) y Hadith (dichos, acciones y aprobaciones del Profeta Muhammad) (Paz y bendiciones sean con él) El artículo comienza con una breve explicación sobre la posición de la mujer en las sociedades preislámicas.
